Adam Thomas returns to captain the Wales Sevens as one of four changes for this weekend's event in Glasgow.

Adam Thomas returns to captain the Wales Sevens as one of four changes for this weekend's event in Glasgow.

Thomas will be joined by Pontypridd teammates Rhys Shellard and Owen Jenkins alongside Scarlets utility back Gareth Owen.

Craig Price, James Davies, Alex Webber and Tom Williams step down from the side which reached the Plate final in the last tournament in Hong Kong.

Wales, currently 10th in the overall series rankings, are in the same group as Fiji, Kenya and Argentina .

Head coach Gareth Williams is confident his side can finish the season on a high note in Glasgow this weekend before next week's finale at Twickenham.

"We were encouraged by the effort the boys put in over the last two rounds in Tokyo and Hong Kong," he said.

"We showed a lot of improvement and to reach a quarter-final in Hong Kong was very pleasing

"We pushed South Africa all the way in the Plate final and considering they are currently second in the series that shows how far we have come as a team.”

"Two teams who are above us – Kenya and Argentina – are in the same pool as us this weekend so if we can string a couple of performances together there is no reason why we can't reach another quarter-final and move up in the overall rankings.”

Wales Sevens squad:

Adam Thomas, Iolo Evans, Jason Harris, Rhys Shellard, Sam Cross, Lee Williams, Gareth Owen, Ross Jones, Will Price, Will Thomas, Luke Morgan, Owen Jenkins.
