Team of the Week: Thunderbolts and lightning

The Cape side has four players in our backline and another two in our forward pack. Other teams represented are the Chiefs, Highlanders, Blues, Hurricanes, Sharks, Jaguares and Brumbies.

Damian McKenzie, Cheslin Kolbe and Dillyn Leyds are our choices in the back three. In the midfield, we have EW Viljoen and Ngani Laumape.

Robert du Preez is our flyhalf again and at scrumhalf we have Aaron Smith.

In the pack, Luke Whitelock, Siyamthanda Kolisi and Scott Fardy make up our loose trio, while in the second row we have Brodie Retallick and Eben Etzebeth.

Our front row consists of Charlie Faumuina, Franco Marais and Lucas Noguera

15 – Damian McKenzie (Chiefs)

He was at his best on attack and launched one of the best tries ever seen in Super Rugby.

14 – Cheslin Kolbe (Stormers)

He had one of his best games in a Stormers jersey against the Chiefs. He evaded defenders with ease and stood up brilliantly on defence as well.

13 – EW Viljoen (Stormers)

He continues to grow with each game and he was simply outstanding against the Chiefs. He got over the advantage line on most occasions and was solid on defence, especially in the second half.

12 – Ngani Laumape (Hurricanes)

He produced a brilliant all-round performance against the Waratahs. He scored two tries and never missed a tackle as well.

He was very influential with ball in hand against the Chiefs and who can forget that magical pass to Sarel Marais for that second-half try.

The flyhalf made good decisions throughout the game against the Chiefs. His distribution was good, he defended well and he scored a try as well.

His service to his backline was flawless at times and he made some good decisions in pressure situations.

He was powerful in the physical stuff and made a truckload of tackles on defence.

7 – Siyamthanda Kolisi (Stormers)

He gave his all on attack and defence against the Chiefs and was one of his team's try-scorers as well.

He made his presence felt at the breakdowns against the Reds and made some good carries as well.

5 – Brodie Retallick (Chiefs)

He was the Chiefs' most powerful asset at Newlands and the big man did not disappoint. He was aggressive on both attack and defence against the Stormers.

4 – Eben Etzebeth (Stormers)

He was a colossus with ball in hand against the Chiefs and secured plenty of good ball at the line-outs as well.

It was another effective performance with ball in hand for the big prop and he scored a try as well.

Showed another side of him against the Jaguares. He got over the gain line a number of times with some aggressive carries.
