Player Ratings: Much better

The Springboks dominated almost all aspects of the game and at the end won rather comfortably. Newcomers, Andries Coetzee and Ross Cronje proved unstoppable at times, but a collective effort at the end of the day sees the Boks back on the winning track.

Jeremy Papier rates the South African players!

15 Andries Coetzee:

An outstanding performance by the newcomer. His kicking was excellent and his decision-making on the counter attack. He also gave the Boks front-foot ball.

9/10

14 Raymond Rhule:

Not much time and space with the ball, but he showed excellent defensive skills. He committed a few handling errors, yet he had an excellent game.

5/10

13 Jesse Kriel:

Decision-making at times let him down, but an overall good came. Carried well and he was solid in defence.

7/10

12 Jan Serfontein:

Had a quiet first half but became more involved as the game carried on. Scored a try in the 67th minute.

6/10

11 Courtnall Skosan:

First real touch late in the game, not much opportunity on the ball but looked for work.

Excellent performance from the Springbok No.10. He took charge of the game, his positioning was good and his overall decision-making excellent.

9/10

9 Ross Cronje:

Great performance by the veteran Lions scrumhalf, showing why he is the best man for the job. Cool, calm and collective.

9/10

8 Warren Whiteley:

Solid performance from the skipper, registering his first test win as the South African captain. Packed down on the flank at scrum time though, which was weird.

6/10

7 Teboho Mohoje:

Good early start, carrying the ball with intent and he was defensively solid.

7/10

Good carries early on. However, he missed a try-scoring opportunity when he passed too early. Got a turnover, but no real work on the ground.

7/10

He had an excellent performance. He worked hard off the ball, leading the defensive charges. Not many carries, but good line-out work.

8/10

4 Eben Etzebeth:

Excellent defensive performance, even though he did not carry the ball as much as you would have liked.

8/10

3 Frans Malherbe:

Did not offer much on attack, made a few tackles but the scrums swayed both ways.

4/10

2 Malcolm Marx:

Explosive carries early in the game and impressed with his defensive work.

1 Tendai Mtawarira:

Struggled with in scrums time and again. Had a few carries, but did not gain much ground.
