CLASSIC CLASH REPORT: Hoër Landbouskool Oakdale of Riverdale travelled to Cradock and secured a 47-31 victory over Hoër Landbouskool Marlow in their annual Classic Clash on Saturday.

Oakdale continued to build on their illustrious Classic Clash record intact, but unlike the previous encounters, this fixture was not a one-sided affair despite outscoring Marlow seven tries to four.

Marcel Neethling and Hannes Gouws all bagged a brace of tries, while Keano Hendricks, Clyde Lewis and Jay-Cee Nel added one each respectively.

For the hosts, Lourens Oosthuizen's double and tries by Shawn Snyman and Vivian Kapp kept the score line more reasonable.

The visitors had a sublime start, within four minutes of play they were on the board. Hendricks's interception was neatly passed to Lewis for the flyhalf's try.

Oakdale continued to attack and soon extended the lead courtesy of Nel's converted try and a successful penalty, 12-0.

Eventually, Snyman scored Marlow's first try, centres’ individual effort made sure his side broke the duck to trail, 5-12.

However, just before the break, Oakdale made sure they take a comfortable 17-5 advantage at the break thanks to speedster Neethling.

Oakdale dominated the second half, they opened the second half with a try by Hendricks.

They went onto to score four additional tries, while Marlow managed produced a better second half performance.
The side could have scored in the dying minutes, but their late surge proved to be a little too late.
