PREMIERSHIP MATCH REPORT: Alex Goode scored twice as Saracens produced  38-15 bonus-point win over Wasps in a pulsating contest to move within five points of league leaders Exeter Chiefs.

The fullback, along with Billy Vunipola, was sensational for the away side – who scored three first-half tries in an ominous display of strength.

Chris Wyles, Goode and Schalk Burger all crossed in a fine first-half display before Wasps hit back when two Saracens players were sent to the sin-bin through a penalty try and memorable Willie Le Roux effort.

But Goode settled it in the second half to wrap up a bonus-point win before Ben Spencer scored to ensure their early winter blip is emphatically over.

The secret to a successful away trip is silencing the crowd and Saracens certainly did that with a superb opening 15 minutes.

The power of Billy Vunipola was too much for Wasps and Saracens scored with their first meaningful attack and Farrell floated a superb pass out wide for Wyles to score.

To compound Wasps’ miserable start, Gaby Lovobalavu limped off injured and the visitors struck again minutes later.

Saracens gained a penalty advantage in Wasps’ 22 and took advantage as Farrell again looped a pass out wide and hooker Christopher Tolofua supplied Goode to stroll in.

Wasps could not contain the excellent Vunipola and he was at the heart of Saracens’ third of the half when he passed inside to Burger to dot down.

Incredibly, though, the momentum dramatically swung Wasps’ way when Burger was sin-binned and a penalty try was awarded when the South African held up a Wasps’ maul on the line.
And Farrell followed him minutes later for a high tackle and Cipriani make a scything line break before finding Le Roux to slide over.

With a two-man advantage, Wasps went for the kill early in the second half and only a great Goode tackle prevented Christian Wade from darting over.

But they could not edge in front and when Saracens were restored to 15 men they extended their lead through a Farrell penalty.

And the visitors secured the win and a bonus point when Goode brilliantly cut through Wasps’ defence to score a fine individual try before Spencer wrapped it up in the last minute.
