However, the centre will return to the Lions next month in a rich vein of form.

Janse van Rensburg joined Sale Sharks on a short-term loan deal back in November and has been has proved a massive success for the club the past two months.

In an interview on the Sale website, the Bok centre credited the unique team spirit at the Sharks as the being the key factor behind his hugely impressive impact at the club.

As well as scoring three tries – with the 23-year-old claiming a brace in last Saturday's 30-29 Premiership win over Harlequins – Rohan's powerhouse runs from midfield and colossal defensive work have also caught the eye.

It's no coincidence that the Sharks have won four of the five Premiership games Janse van Rensburg has featured in since arriving from Johannesburg in November.

And he says the special camaraderie fostered by Sale Director of Rugby Steve Diamond and his squad helped him to hit the ground running with the Sharks.

"From my own perspective I still think there are a couple of things I can work on but every week I have been enjoying it so much here at Sale with Dimes [Diamond] and the whole squad," Janse van Rensburg told the Sale website.

"They have made it very comfortable for me to come and fit-in and just play my game.

"The coaching staff here at Sale are fantastic and the whole team's dynamic is just amazing. It has made it so easy to for me fit-in and that's a rare thing to find in rugby.

"Sometimes it can be quite difficult when you are a new guy to fit into a place but here it has been easy and I really appreciate that."

That two-try impact against Quins capped a magnificent all-round display which saw Rohan pick up a deserved man-of-the-match award.

And he says such is the confidence now coursing through the team that the Sale squad believe Saturday's win could be the catalyst towards a memorable second half to the campaign.

"It was a high-pressure match for us and all week we had been impressing on ourselves that it was a must-win game," Rohan added.

"I thought it was a fantastic game to play in. The weather was great with the sun shining in the first half and clear skies and there were a lot of exciting moments with the score constantly changing.

"We spoke at half-time about just sticking to our game-plan and I think we showed some great mental strength to come back from behind in that second half.

"Joe Marler's sending-off in the second-half was a big momentum shift for us. We had to use them going down to 14 men to our advantage and I felt we did that.

"For our confidence going forward, it was a really big win for us, especially on home turf, and I think it will be a massive momentum shift for us.

"The guys have such belief in themselves that there is no reason why we can't even look to the top four.

"When I got here I think we were 10th but we've put some really good performances together and got some momentum behind us and I think the guys are keeping a cool head and playing well."
