Evans: We can get the big result
NEWS: Looking for a second home victory in 2017 Scarlets loosehead prop Rob Evans believes his side have enough confidence to get the job done against Ulster at Parc y Scarlets on Friday.
Making only his third start of the season on Friday, January 6, after a lengthy lay-off with a wrist injury, Evans is chomping at the bit and looking forward to another physical encounter against Ulster as the two sides battle it out for a top four place.
Scarlets currently have the upper hand in the PRO12 standings, sitting in fourth position four points ahead of Ulster and unbeaten in the last eight games in all competition at Parc y Scarlets, however the Irish have a game in hand.
Ulster won 19-8 when the two sides met in Belfast in Round Three and have not achieved a season's double over Scarlets since they won all three encounters that were played in 2012/13, coinciding with their most recent victory at Parc y Scarlets in December 2012.
Speaking ahead of Friday's clash Evans said; "It's good to be back. It's been a bit frustrating to be injured with quite a long recovery time but it's good to be back now.
"My first start back was against Toulon at Parc y Scarlets and I thought the scrums went pretty well that day. I was pretty happy with the performance. We were all a little bit disappointed with the Ospreys performance and I thought we lost the arm wrestle on the day.
"It was good to get a win against the Blues last weekend and we've got to push on against Ulster now.
"It's a huge game for us to push on now and hopefully we can get a big result on Friday,"
Evans has been vying for the number one shirt with Wyn Jones since his return but believes that the strength in depth at the region is now coming to fruition; "I think they've been pretty good with rotation. We've had a lot of games in 11 days. There's been a good atmosphere in training and we're all looking forward to Friday now.
"It's a big game for us this weekend, we're looking forward to it. We're pretty confident within ourselves and looking forward to taking them on,"
