New Cardiff Blues deal for Cook

The versatile forward has established himself as an invaluable member of the squad at Wales' Capital Region making 137 appearances since his debut in 2010.

He had no hesitation in putting pen to paper once again and is determined to kick on with his home region.

Cook said: "I have come through the system here, I've always played for the region and I love pulling on the Cardiff Blues jersey each weekend, especially in front of our home fans.

"Now I'm just excited about what the future holds, I feel like I have unfinished business here.

"There's definitely a feeling that we're heading in the right direction and building something. There are some great young players coming through and they are really adding to the more established guys.

"I've been here so long, played 137 games for the region and I’m really looking forward to seeing and contributing to what we can do in the next few years."

The news that Cook has signed a new contract in the Welsh capital comes just 24 hours after it was announced that Lloyd Williams has also penned fresh terms.

So far eight players have agreed senior contracts and while Cook admits moving elsewhere may have been an option, he always wanted to remain with the Blues and knows the chance to win silverware with those he has come through the system with would mean much more.

He added: "I love this region, they are the ones who gave me the opportunity and each week I play with my best mates.

"You can go elsewhere to win trophies but we have come through together at Cardiff Blues and I would love to win something here with my mates. We’re definitely heading in the right direction and can start to compete."
