Discipline is No.1 for BlitzBoks

Seabelo Senatla's yellow card in their Cup quarterfinal against the USA in Dubai last weekend proved costly as the BlitzBoks eventually lost the game 19-21 after the Americans scored two tries in the period in which the flyer was off the field.

Brown does not want to see a repeat of that in Cape Town this weekend.

"Discipline is probably the No.1 thing for us," said Brown.

"Discipline has always been key. If you give teams penalties they going to gain momentum and we know momentum is absolutely everything.

Discipline is No.1 for BlitzBoks"When you talk about discipline and getting to six men on the field – that is a cardinal sin. It’s really difficult to play Sevens with six men on the field."

Despite not going further in the Cup section of the Dubai leg, Brown feels his team showed enough positives during the two-day event.

"I wouldn't call it a disappointing showing. I thought we played some great rugby.

"We went out in the quarterfinals and there were a couple of tough situations, but I think when we came back to play Argentina in the Plate semi we played some good rugby and then again in one of the more exciting games of the weekend against Australia.

"We gathered momentum towards the end of the tournament and I reckon it was quite a good one."

With 55 000 fan expected at Cape Town Stadium on both days there could be some added pressure on the home team to do well this weekend. However, Brown rather wants to use the whole occasion to their advantage.

Discipline is No.1 for BlitzBoks"I have been on the Sevens circuit for seven years now and everybody has been saying that we should get a tournament down in Cape Town. The way the ticket sales went, Cape Town is really ready for the tournament and I reckon it's going to be a real cracker this weekend.

"You can really embrace the energy of the crowd. If we are honest with ourselves, every time we run onto the field we can be pretty damn sure the crowd is shouting for us and not the other team.

"That is the one positives guys can take from this. Where else would you want to be this week?

"You got the chance to play for your country, in your country – in front of 55 000 fans screaming and shouting and having a good time out there," Brown added.
