Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall said of Flanagan's arrival: "We have been watching Mark for some time and he has proved himself one of the most impressive lock forwards in the Championship.

"We're delighted he's chosen to advance his career at Saracens."

An Ireland international at Under-18, U19 and U20 levels, Flanagan – who is also English Qualified – emerged at senior level with Leinster, making a total of nine appearances, before heading to Mont-de-Marson in France.

Standing at an imposing six feet seven inches tall, the cousin of Ireland international Devin Toner has excelled while playing in the Pro D2 and has been a key part of Mike Rayer's Bedford side who face Bristol in the Championship play-offs.

"Joining Saracens is fantastic opportunity for me," said Flanagan. "Sarries have a proven track record of developing players and I can't wait to get started next season.

"I've really enjoyed my time at Bedford Blues and I'm grateful for the support they have shown me but I'm really looking forward to be joining such a fantastic club."
