Brumbies legends return for Tens

Larkham, who played for the Brumbies between 1996-2007 winning 116 caps and scoring in excess of 200 points as well as appearing in Wallaby Gold on 102 occasions, is scheduled to take part in the Brumbies matches against the Bulls, Highlanders and Toulon at the rugby extravaganza in Brisbane alongside former team mate Walker who scored 246 points in 47 appearances.

"I am looking forward to putting the boots back on in a competitive match environment and playing alongside Andrew at the Global Rugby Tens," Larkham commented.

"It’s great that Andrew is able to commit to represent the Brumbies in the tournament as he was a firm fan favourite during an incredible career at the franchise.

"We will be selecting a strong squad to travel to Brisbane to compete in the tournament and the inclusion of Andrew will augment what we are sure will be a competitive team as we prepare for the first round of Super Rugby,"

Larkham and Walker join a host of other big names who will be reigniting memories of their successful careers at the event to be held at Suncorp Stadium. The Brumbies pair will feature along with Chris Latham of the Reds and Jerome Kaino of the Blues.

"The concept of the wildcard was to allow teams to include genuine rugby legends in their line-ups and in Stephen Larkham and Andrew Walker there is no doubt the Brumbies have done just that," Global Rugby Tens Australia chief executive Rachael Carroll said.

"Stephen and Andrew are true Australian rugby icons, so to have them involved as part of the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens is incredible.

"Stephen’s record of over well over 100 Super Rugby matches for the Brumbies and over 100 test matches for Australia speaks for itself, whilst Andrew was a prolific try scorer for club and country. For rugby fans to have a chance to see him in action again is truly something special.

"As a player-coach Stephen is certainly going to be one of the busiest people in Brisbane on February 11 and 12 and I have no doubt he’ll handle the demands in the same outstanding fashion he has done throughout one of the great rugby careers.

"Andrew Walker is one of the most exciting players of his generation in two rugby codes – a dual Australian international and exactly the sort of player fans will be delighted to see out on a rugby field again,"

The Brumbies Global Rugby Tens competition will see the team play three matches on Day 1 of the tournament as they face the Highlanders, Toulon and Bulls.
