Stadium Guide: St James' Park

It is the oldest football stadium in the North East of England – with it being the second biggest sports ground in England. It is the sixth largest stadium in the UK.

The Stadium has hosted concerts- with the likes of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen; it hosted international soccer games as well as the 2012 Olympic football. It has also been used a number of times as a filming location for the film Goal. 

The stadium is situated in the heart of Newcastle and is famous for its bustling nightlife. It is 500m north of Central station which is the main station in the city- with St James station further to the South and Monument station situation 250m to the east.

The stadium has four stands; the Gallowgate End is the southern end of the ground and is named for its proximity to the old city gallows. The Leazes End is at the Northern End of the ground. The Milburn stand is the main stand, on the west side of the ground and was named after Jackie Milburn. Finally, the East Stand is the smallest out of the four.

This ground will host three 2015 Rugby World Cup Matches.
