According to the Irish team’s latest medical report, Snyman has been increasing his training load following his 16-month injury lay-off.

Munster did not provide the date of his return to action, however, the Irish side is hopeful that the lock’s long-awaited comeback could be in the next month.

The star is recovering from a second successive cruciate knee injury following a setback in his recovery at the start of the season.

However, the 28-year-old has progressed to on-field training in the last four weeks and appears on course to return for the second half of the season.

His return will also give him a chance to get back in contention for Springbok selection for the Rugby Championship and ultimately stake a claim at World Cup selection.

Snyman has endured a dreadful time since joining the Irish province two years ago.

He has only played four times for Munster, with injuries and a firepit accident in June 2021 keeping him on the sidelines.

In other injury news, Ireland international Andrew Conway is out of action for three to four months after undergoing a procedure on his knee last week.

The wing has not played this season and could miss the rest of the season.

Munster return to action in the United Rugby Championship (URC) match against Ospreys on February 17.
