Fake news update: Bulls' Bok still awol

REACTION: The Blue Bulls Company has dismissed as ‘untrue’ reports in relation to Springbok Sibusio Nkosi’s whereabouts.

“We have not located the player and have not issued any updates in relation to this,” a curt statement from the BBC said on Monday.

The BBC at the weekend revealed that Nkosi has been absent without leave for the past three weeks.

“Nkosi’s last known contact with any executive, management or playing squad member is Friday, November 11,” a statement said.

Media reports on Monday suggested the whereabouts of the missing Springbok wing, Nkosi, has been established.

However, this is fake news.

“We continue to receive tip-offs and information from the public [through the info@bluebull.co.za line we shared in the initial statement] and all these are being shared with the police as well as other relevant stakeholders who are assisting in the matter,” the Bulls said in a media release on Monday.

“We continue to appeal to the wider public to share any information they have that may help with the case.”

The Bulls said they will keep everyone informed of the true facts of the case – when they have any “substantive developments”.

At the weekend the Bulls said there were “numerous failed attempts” – including phone calls, text messages, calls to relatives, partner and close friends as well as four house visits to his known place of residence.

The BBC opened a missing person case with the Brooklyn Police Station, with the case subsequently transferred to Sunnyside Police Station.
