Hourcade to lead Pumas to World Cup

The Argentina Rugby Federation have confirmed that Daniel Hourcade will lead the Pumas to the 2015 World Cup.

"Daniel has come through the federal ranks as a coach and we are fully confident that he can ensure we have a very successful World Cup," Argentina Rugby Federation chief Agustín Pichot told AFP.

"It is not going to be easy leading up to the World Cup, but we will depend on his experience and human qualities."

Hourcade was promoted from Jaguars coach to Pumas mentor following the resignation of Santiago Phelan prior to the November internationals.

His tenure got off to a losing start as the Pumas suffered a 12-31 loss to England at Twickenham and were humbled 6-40 by Six Nations champions Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

However, the Pumas ended the year on a positive note and handed Hourcade his first win when they edged Italy 19-14 in Rome.
