The corona virus is disrupting Six Nations Rugby with seven postponed matches out of nine in this last round. This includes decisive matches, amongst them deciding who will be the winner of the senior men’s competition.
The referees whose games have been chopped – Wayne Barnes, Pascal Gaüzère, Aurelie Groizeleau, Sam Grove-White, Amber McLachlan, Rebecca Mahoney and Christophe Ridley. It must be disappointing, especially for the two from Australasia, but it is to be hoped that the matches will eventually be able to be played, especially because the virus will have disappeared.
Rugby Europe’s International Championship is another virus casualty. All three matches are postponed, leaving silent whistles for Pierre Brousset, Chris Busby and Ian Tempest.
There is a grand new competition starting in the Pacific regions – Global Rapid Rugby which was conceived in Western Australia.
In England’s there is the final of the Premier Cup with Tom Foley to referee it.
By the way, it’s good to see that Jérôme Garcès is not lost refereeing. His name is occurring frequently as an assessor/match reviewer.
