Willie available for Bok selection

RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young revealed that Willie le Roux is available for the Springboks’ final two Rugby Championship matches against Australia and New Zealand.

Le Roux returned to Wasps after playing a big role in the Boks’ 36-34 win over the All Blacks in Wellington last weekend.

Earlier reports suggested the Le Roux would stay with the club due to an agreement between the Springboks and Wasps.

However, Young says the 29-year-old will head back to South Africa if Rassie Erasmus needs him.

“If he gets selected, he goes. There’s nothing we can do to stop that,” Young told the Coventry Telegraph.

“We didn’t expect him to be playing. I’d be lying if I said that. Willie felt his international career was over when he came here, we had those discussions.

“South Africa have had a changing of the guard there and that has changed a lot of things. He’s gone back into the fold and played really well.

“The big thing for him as well, is if he is involved in these next two games, the second game will be his 50th cap so that is a big incentive for Willie.”

The Boks face the Wallabies in Port Elizabeth on September 29 before their clash against the All Blacks in Pretoria on October 6.
