The Australian Rugby Union confirmed the roof will be closed for Saturday's second Test against the British and Irish Lions at the Docklands stadium in Melbourne.
The forecast for Saturday in Melbourne is for isolated showers to develop in the evening.
The match is scheduled to begin at 20.00 local time.
The last time the teams played at Docklands – now called the Etihad Stadium – Australia won 35-14 under a closed roof to level the series 1-all.
Australia went on to win that series 2-1.
Last week the Wallabies' replacement fullback Kurtley Beale slipped on the damp turf in Brisbane while attempting a penalty goal as time expired, missing the kick and allowing the Lions to win the first Test 23-21.
The theme for the second Test is 'The Battle', which is apt considering the Wallabies must win to remain alive in the best-of-three series.
With the roof closed the atmosphere will be electric.
ARU CEO Bill Pulver said that despite the Wallabies' loss last weekend the B&I Lions tour had got off to a sensational start.
"While it was disappointing the result didn't go the Wallabies' way, the atmosphere, the crowd and the Test itself were all fantastic," Pulver said.
"Last weekend Queensland set the standard at the level we all expected, very high. This weekend it is Melbourne's turn to step it up and continue to build on the excitement of a tour that comes to our shores just once every 12 years."
