Montpellier confirmed the signing of Springbok prop on a short-term deal on Monday.

Gqoboka, who plays for the Bulls, joins the French club as a medical joker as Montpellier will be without several internationals for the next couple of months due to the upcoming World Cup in Japan.

The 29-year-old follows in the footsteps of fellow Bok prop Wilco Louw who has joined Toulon to provide cover for the next few months.

“I am very excited to start this new adventure in Montpellier,” said Gqoboka. I spoke with some club players who are very happy here. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

“The Top 14 is a great championship that brings together many experienced international players. There are also many young talents who can learn from them.

“My personal goal is to contribute as much as possible to the success of the club. I thank the club for the opportunity and I cannot wait to take my first steps in front of Montpellier supporters!”
