Vunipola in World Cup fitness race

INJURY UPDATE: England sit with a massive injury concern as the World Cup approaches at a rapid pace.

England stand-out performance Mako Vunipola sustained a hamstring injury during the Saracens’ Champions Cup win over Leinster last Saturday.

The Premiership club revealed that the prop, consequently, requires surgery and will be out for a minimum of three months.

This means that he will miss Saracens’ remaining fixtures and is set to miss England’s World Cup warm-up programme, which includes matches against Wales, Ireland, Italy.

While he could potentially miss the start of England’s World Cup campaign which starts on September 22.

Meanwhile, Saracens also confirmed that USA prop Titi Lamositele picked up an ankle injury  “which isn’t too serious but sidelines him for Sarries’ remaining fixtures,”
