Schools Top 20 - 15 May 2018

On the ranking of 8 May, Monument were fifth and posing a real threat to Paarl Boys' High at fourth, then on Saturday, they lost to Waterkloof who were not ranked at all.

Waterkloof were not ranked as they had lost six of their seven matches. We were aware that they were playing really top opposition but they were losing. They beat Durbanville but lost to Helpmekaar, Transvalia, Grey Bloem, Paarl Gim, Paarl Boys' High and Paul Roos. Now we have brought Waterkloof into the group below.

What made changing the ranking difficult this week was the number of teams that did not play – Paarl Boys' High. Oakdale, Affies, Menlopark, Drostdy and Jeppe. But we have made changes.

We swapped Transvalia, who beat a Top 20 team, and Monument so that Monument are one place below Glenwood. Glenwood and Monnas meet this weekend. Wynberg beat Grey PE in Port Elizabeth, and we have moved them up.

Both Boland Landbou and Helpmekaar lost, but both teams below them did not play. For their huge win, we have moved Ben Vorster one place up. Framesby beat Boland Landbou, and we have moved them into 18, dropping Grey Port Elizabeth down to the pressure group below.

We wanted to reward Framesby and that meant that either Grey or Bishops had to go. We kept Bishops who had beaten Grey and scored more points against Paul Roos than Paarl Gim, Drostdy, Grey PE, Menlopark and Waterkloof.
