Stamping Kiwi escapes punishment
Wellington flank Adam Hill has received no further sanction, after being ordered from the field in his team's Week Six NPC match against Canterbury last Saturday, September 21.
Hill was shown a red card for stamping, a breach of law 10.4(b), about 10 minutes from full-time.
He appeared before New Zealand Rugby Union judicial officer Roger Drummond in Wellington on Tuesday.
Having heard submissions made on Hill's behalf and from the player himself, Drummond said the stamping was "not intentional" and at the very low end of offending.
In considering this, along with Hill's record, his behaviour at the hearing and quick acknowledgement of the foul play, Drummond felt that the ordering off during the match was sufficient sanction in itself for the level of offending, and therefore did not warrant a further period of suspension.
The red card remains on Hill's record.
However, he is free to be named in Wellington's team to play Waikato on Friday.
