Watson ravages team with flu

The EP Kings have had to delay their team announcment with a bout of flu tearing through the camp after Luke Watson was withdrawn from Saturday's match because of the illness.

 

The Kings came through the 19-60 loss to the Golden Lions at the weekend relatively unscathed.

 

The only major injury concern for the Kings is reserve prop CJ van der Linde who has a calf strain and is due to undergo scans this week,

 

On Monday Ntabeni Dukisa and Aidon Davis raised the alarms when they started exhibiting signs of the flu that waylaid captain Watson on the weekend.

 

Watson missed last Friday's captain's run in an attempt to get him ready for the match on Saturday against the Lions, but on Tuesday the Springbok flank was still being treated for the illness.

 

The Kings have had a poor start in their return to the Currie Cup and would be targeting this weekend's game against fellow strugglers, the Blue Bulls, as a good opportunity to get a win.

 

However, the bout of flu working its way through the Kings ranks could be a devastating blow for coach Carlos Spencer.
