It has been widely reported that the French club Bordeaux-Bègles are interested in signing the electrifying  Bulls wing.

According to reports, Tambwe is set to join the Top 14 club later this year.

When asked about the transfer reports, Tambwe said: “At the moment, I can not comment on it.”

Having previously played for the Lions and Sharks, Tambwe has proven to be a valuable asset since joining the Bulls last year.

The 24-year-old, along with Kurt-Lee Arendse,  has become a vital attacking weapon for Jake White’s side and his performances has many pundits touting him as a Springboks bolter.

However, Tamwe admitted his chances of making the Springboks starting line-up during the three-match Test series against Wales are very slim given the heaps of talent in the form of Cheslin Kolbe, Makazola Mapimpi and Sibusiso Nkosi in the team.

“For me, it would be massive to get called up into the national team,” Tambwe said.

“Fingers crossed that I do find myself in that group of players that will make it to the June Test.”

He added: “There are World Cup-winning Springboks like Mapimpi,  Kolbe – who have been playing some great rugby in France – and Nkosi that will certainly be a safe choice.

“But if I do crack a nod it would be amazing to play the June Test.”

There is also a bigger issue standing in his way.

The Congo-born player does not yet have his SA passport, making him not eligible for Springbok selection.
