Grey vs Grey in the Bay

Grey College empty Bloemfontein and head down to the see for its meeting with Grey High School in PE. This year it’s a Premier Interschools match and so televised.

The gathering will not just be about rugby but will include hockey, golf, crosscut, tennis, chess and squash.

They have been doing it for many years, usually with the Bloemfontein side taking the laurels. But then, it’s an oval ball and maybe the Windy city will produce bits of wind to help the home side, and maybe ….

One thing is sure, each side will honour the founder of both, Sir George Grey in the middle of the 19th century, with the best abilities of two of South Africa’s excellent schools.

Season So Far

At present Grey Bloem are ranked third on the Top 20 and are unbeaten; Grey PE are ranked 18th after a good win last week against Framesby while Grey Bloem have not been playing as Grey College since May. Not that they have not been playing as they have dominated Free Schools at Craven Week and Academy week and so on.

Grey PE have lost four of their 13 matches, three of them to schools ranked above them on the Top 20.

They have no opponents in common this year.
