Ronnie Shube up for FNB Classic Clash

Player profile

We take a look at Ntsonkotha Senior Secondary School's rugby captain, Ronnie Shube.

Born on the 9 July 1985, Ronnie picked the game up at a later age and started playing the game only in 1999. But he has made up for lost time through his natural talent and enthusiasm, which has seen Ronnie materialise into a formidable rugby player. Starting off at Mzonkeshe Primary, Ronnie has played in a number of positions, from lock to anywhere in the back-row. The towering captain currently runs the side from eightman and is likened to tackling a fridge when he breaks off from the back of the scrum.

His team’s performance has been extremely impressive thus far, playing seven matches and remaining unbeaten through all encounters.

His side’s talents include Ntsonkotha flyhalf Phatele Babatyi and fullback Bulelem Totso. It's one double skip pass that brings the combination together with Bulelem cutting into the line and a creating a certain amount of mayhem for any opposition’s defensive pattern.

As far a Saturday goes, it's no doubt that Ronnie will be seeing quite a bit of opposition captain Zwelenkosi Ben as the scrumhalf will be looking to disrupt Ronnie at the base of the scrum and other way around with Ronnie putting pressure on the Zweliyandila captain, trying to force errors and disrupt Zweliyandila from gaining any momentum.

Its going to be a Classic with the two East London rivals battling it out for top dog status in this week's FNB Classic Clash.
