Schools Results - 7 August
Including three FNB Classic Clashes
Two of the three FNB Classic Clashes were terribly close. In Graaff-Reinet Union High and Volkskool drew a tense affair 16-all. In the wet in Paarl Gim beat Boys' High in a tense affair 13-3. But in Cradock Marlow established a record in beating Cradock High 53-3.
In the Eastern Cape there was the big Border match between Dale and Selborne. It was the 169th match between the two great schools. Dale have won 94, Selborne 52. Then in a Queenstown derby Hangklip had a good win.
In East London Port Rex had a good win over Hudson Park, recent conquerors of Selborne.
Glenwood, beaten last week by Maritzburg College, lost to Kearsney in a neighbourly encounter in KwaZulu Natal but nothing quite beats the Midlands derby when Michaelhouse and Hilton meet.
The matches between Jeppe and Parktown and between Pretoria Boys' High and KES are old and always well competed.
The Cape was sopping wet, cold and windy. It did not make for spectator comfort but the players still enjoy it. Get wet and the rest is fun!
