With two tries in the first ten minutes by Bame Malesu it was the St Andrew’s College team that started more brightly and took an early 14-0 lead after both tries were converted by Sinjin Broad. A further converted try by the St Andrew’s College captain Chris Poole meant that the lead was stretched out to 21-0 before Graeme finished the first half strongly with two tries of their own. This meant that St Andrew’s College went into the break with a 21-12 lead after what was a scrappy, mistake-riddled half that never really got any momentum.

The lead was extended early in the second half with further converted tries to Dylan Wilson, Lloyd Koster and Sinjin Broad taking St Andrew’s College out to a 42-12 lead going into the last ten minutes of the game.

Credit must go to the home side who never gave up. On the day their set piece was solid and they eventually broke through to score a converted try with just minutes remaining. St Andrew’s College reserve scrumhalf Nic Rogan then produced a piece of magic to allow Andrew Coxwell to score untouched and finish off the game with St Andrew’s College 47-19 up.
