Tries at Iqhawe's Day 1
There were seven matches on the opening day of the sixth Iqhawe Week for Under-15 players at the Bill Jardine Stadium in Johannesburg and in those seven matches the teams scored a total of 47 tries were scored.
This was not really the result of runaway scored. The biggest one was 47-7, but even the smallest scored, 14-10, produced four tries.
In the main match of the first day, Western Province came from behind to beat the Blue Bulls 26-20 after the men from the north had led 15-12 and half-time.
Eastern Province enjoyed the biggest win when they beat the Sharks 47-7. The Griffons led the Valke 12-10 at half-time and then won the second half 19-0. The Golden Lions did even better. Behind 14-5 down at half-time, they won the second half 24-0. Border’s victory was similar – down 12-0, they came back to win 24-17.
Griquas and South Western Districts each scored two tries, but Griquas converted both of theirs and won the match.
