Boks return to Bulls

NEWS: The Blue Bulls have been boosted by the return of three Springboks, ahead of a mid-season trip to Windhoek.

Trevor Nyakane, Marco van Staden and Embrose Papier will all be in action on Saturday, when the Bulls face Namibia in a friendly match at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

The trio has been included in a Bulls Presidents XV that will face the Namibians in a match that will provide them with an opportunity to get some much-needed game time.

Nyakane is on his way back to full match fitness following a concussion, while Van Staden and Papier had no playing time with the Springboks in Australasia in the last two weeks.

A number of fringe squad players and current Blue Bulls with limited game time in the Currie Cup will also be in action.

This include Dylan Sage, Franco Naude, Tinus de Beer and Dayan van der Westhuizen – who all played in last weekend’s Currie Cup win over the Pumas.

The likes of Garrick Matteus, Mosolwa Mafuma, Dan Kasende and Victor Sekekete will be keen to impress coach Pote Human with a spot in the regular playing squad a nice incentive.

“Namibia is slowly but surely busy to prepare their squad for next year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan, so every match they play will be an important step towards that,” Human said, adding that they expect a real tussle in Windhoek.

“It is also a great opportunity for some of our fringe players to show what they can do against quality opponents and ideal game time for others who have not played much in recent weeks.”

Blue Bulls: 15 Garrick Matteus, 14 Mosolwa Mafuma, 13 Dylan Sage, 12 Franco Naude, 11 Dan Kasende, 10 Tinus de Beer, 9 Embrose Papier, 8 Frederick Eksteen, 7 Thembalani Bholi, 6 Marco van Staden, 5 Aston Fortuin, 4 Victor Sekekete, 3 Dayan van der Westhuizen, 2 Jan-Henning Campher, 1 Trevor Nyakane.
