The Lions Rugby Company revealed on Friday that former Sharks and Cheetahs prop Danie Mienie will return from French Top 14 club Toulouse – where he made 15 appearances – to join the Lions.

Mini made 24 appearances for the Sharks in the Currie Cup and other second-tier domestic competitions, played 19 times for the Cheetahs and 12 time for Griquas – before heading to France in 2017.

His arrival comes in the wake of the departure of seasoned props Jacques van Rooyen (signed with Bath) and Ruan Dreyer (Barh).

The Lions have also made a rash of re-signings in recent weeks.

These include Madosh Tambwe, Shaun Reynolds, Johannes Jonker, Len Massyn, Jacobie Adriaanse, Rhyno Herbst, Robert Kruger, Nicholas Groom, Marnus Schoeman (who will formally join them on November 1, after playing as a loan player in Super Rugby this year), Lourens Erasmus, Harold Vorster, Sylvian Mahuza, Hacjivah Dayimani, Courtnall Skosan, Dillon Smit, Kwagga Smith, Andries Coetzee, Ruan Combrinck, Dylan Smith, Warren Whiteley, Malcolm Marx, Ross Cronje, Aphiwe Dyantyi, Cyle Brink, Marvin Orie, Andries Coetzee, Elton Jantjies, Lionel Mapoe and Courtnall Skosan.
