With less than weeks to go before the start of the 2018 Currie Cup, SA Rugby’s Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus, who was the Free State Cheetahs’ head coach that year, and hard-working flank Kabamba Floors talk about the Free State Cheetahs’ 29-25 victory over the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld in 2005.

The pulsating victory at Loftus made sure the Cheetahs secured their second Currie Cup trophy.

The side went into the match as underdogs and found themselves 15-25 down with nine minutes left of the clock. However, tries by Bevin Fortuin and Meyer Bosman in the dying minutes handed the Bloemfontein-based outfit a thrilling victory.

“Outside of Bloemfontein, virtually no-one gave Rassie and his team any chance to win that final in 2005, but they did – and that is the magic of the Currie Cup,” said Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby.
