WP turn attention to 'physical' Sharks

Since their 34-44 defeat to Griquas in Round Four, Province bagged a maximum 10 points from their last two games, which has seen them rise to third in the Currie Standings after six rounds.

Their 39-3 win over the Golden Lions last weekend was the Cape side's most impressive performance of the Currie Cup season so far as they made over 200 tackles during the 80 minutes and scored six unanswered tries.

Province star Dillyn Leyds says they are now looking to end the first half of this year's Currie Cup tournament on a high when they take on the second-placed Sharks.

"The Sharks are a very physical team," Leyds told reporters at the team's base in Bellville.

"Obviously it is not nice coming in on a Monday and knowing we made over 200 tackles. I think the same thing is going to happen this week in terms of the sort of game that they [Sharks] will bring to us.

"But we just got to be up for it and we are just focussing on ourselves at the moment. I think that is the best thing to do right now.

"We got a bye next week so, we would like to go into that bye week with a good result."

One of the hallmarks of Province's win over the Lions was their ability to cross the whitewash six times, despite the visitors dominating possession for most of the game.

"Against the Griquas, we weren't as clinical as we probably should have been, so it was a good thing that some of the passes we threw actually stuck this time," said Leyds.

"Obviously, we made quite a few tackles, but when we did get the ball it was very important for us to finish the opportunities we did get.

"I think to be honest there are probably still a couple of points left out there where we kicked the ball awayjust too early or it was just a simple draw and pass here and there that should have been an extra seven points.

"I think it's nice that these things are coming our way and we are getting the five pointers."
