Cheetahs reveal squad for Euro Challenge campaign

SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: The Cheetahs will make their EPCR Challenge Cup debut this season and announced their squad for the Rounds one and two matches played in December 2022.

Cheetahs head coach Hawies Fourie has named a 27-man squad that will travel from Bloemfontein to Europe On December 5.

The squad consists of 16 forwards and 11 backline players.

Victor Sekekete will captain the side, which also features the likes of Springbok veterans Ruan Pienaar and Frans Steyn.

Cheetahs kick off their campaign with a trip to Section Paloise in France on December 10 before they host Scarlets in Round 2 a week later in Parma, Italy.

They will return to South Africa for the Christmas break and travel again to Wales in the new year to face the Scarlets on Friday, January 13 and entertain Pau to round off their pool stage fixtures on January 2023 in Parma.

The Cheetahs will play their two home games at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi in Parma, Italy. One of the conditions of participation in the 2022/23 EPCR Challenge Cup was for the Cheetahs to base in Europe.

Backs: David Brits, Robert Ebersohn, Reinhardt Fortuin, Munier Hartzenberg, Cohen Jasper, Daniel Kasende, Rewan Kruger, Tapiwa Mafura, Siya Masuku, Ruan Pienaar, Frans Steyn.
