It was a horror weekend for South African sides in the Champions Cup, with the Sharks the only victorious side as the Bulls and Stormers went down to Saracens and Toulon respectively.

Steenekamp admitted that key areas of their game could’ve been better despite the horrid weather conditions the Bulls faced in London.
“Definitely we were a bit slow at the breakdown, and our discipline, we gave away a lot of penalties and that gave them [Saracens] entries into our 22 [metre area],” Steenekamp told @rugby365com.
“So just to sharpen up on the small details, nothing too big, and I think that will make us much better.”
The prop hinted that the Bulls might be cooking something special for the Premiership powerhouse outfit when asked if the Bulls have identified any weaknesses in the Northampton side.
“They’re a very good team, so we’ll just take our plan and see who’s plan is the best on the weekend,” Steenekamp told @rugby365com.
He added: “There’s not any real weaknesses we identified, but we have our plan and we’ll stick to it and see how it goes.”

In terms of the past weekend’s match against Saracens, Steenekamp is more than happy to be back and play at home in more familiar conditions against the Saints.
“Last week we had a lot of learnings, playing in Europe and in uncomfortable conditions, I think we can handle pressure much better in those conditions.
“As a group we learned a lot out of it, for us being back at Loftus [Versveld] we need to just make sure we fix as much as we can and go full-out into the next game.
“I think it’s going to be nice and hot/dry, so it’s awesome conditions to play in.
“We’re training in the heat all week so I don’t think it will bother us too much, and it’s very good to be back and not wear a jacket all the time.”
