France U21 in big win

Scotland well beaten in Falkirk

France Under-21 beat Scotland Under-21 37-0 in Falkirk Stadium. It was a disappointing performance for the Scots.

Much of their undoing was of their own making. In the first half they at one stage had two players in the sin bin. While they were thus down to 13 men they conceded 19 points, which set the French well on their way to this big victory.

France opened the scoring in the third minute through a drop-goal by their outstanding flyhalf Lionel Beauxis, who played an important part for his country at last years Under-21 Championship in Argentina. He then added a penalty in the 18th minute when James Eddie was guilty of an air tackle.

When Ryan Grant and John Barclay were in the sin bin, first Maxime Médard and then Florian Denos scored tries and France led 18-0.

Good work by lock Loic Jacquet, also a star at the Argentinian World Championship, led to a try by Arnaud Mignardi to make it 25-0. Jacquet himself scored the fourth try. Loose forward Fulgence Ouedraogo scored the last try late in the second half.
