Jake White reveals star-studded tour squad
SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White has revealed a 34-man squad for a three-match tour in the United Rugby Championship.
The Pretoria franchise will head to Wales for matches against the Ospreys and Scarlets before they wrap up their tour against Benetton in Italy.
There are 13 Springboks in the squad, which includes co-captains Ruan Nortje and Elrigh Louw.
The story continues below…
The other Boks in the pack are Gerhard Steenekamp, Johan Grobbelaar, Akker van der Merwe, Jan Hendrik Wessels, Wilco Louw and Marcell Coetzee.
Springbok flank Marco van Staden was not included in the squad as he is being rested after his commitments with the Springboks.
Some of the big names in the backline include Kurt-Lee Arendse, Willie le Roux and Canan Moodie.
Flyhalf Johan Goosen is recovering from an operation after he broke his nose in last month’s Currie Cup semifinal against the Sharks.
The Bulls seem to be short on No.10s for the tour.
Boeta Chamberlain wore the No.10 jersey against Ulster last weekend and he has been included in the tour group.
There might be a situation where Le Roux could step into the flyhalf role.
The Bulls started their 2024/2025 campaign with home wins over Edinburgh and Ulster.
