The Scarlets are preparing to take on the Southern Kings and Cheetahs in Rounds Nine and 10 of the Pro14.

Cummins, 25, represented Australia at several age-group levels – Schools, Under-19 and Under-20.

He links up with the Scarlets on a long-term deal and is ready to lace up his boots for his first regional appearance just a few months after finishing a Super Rugby season with Melbourne Rebels.

"This is my first time to the United Kingdom and this side of the world," he said his move to West Wales.

"I knew Paul Asquith, I played with Dave Bulbring in South Africa and I also knew Dylan Evans. I touched base with those guys and they had only good things to say about the club, the country and all the things that come along with it.

"I thought it was a great opportunity to play a different style of rugby in a really good and successful programme. It was too good to turn down.

"I had quite a few conversations with the guys, I asked as many questions as I could and all the right questions I felt. I was at peace with the decision completely coming over. I wasn't leaving anything to chance and I was confident and ready to come. I'm excited for what's to come.

"The travel, the community, the rugby programme itself and the supporters and the chance to travel around UK and Europe playing some top quality teams – those sort of things were pretty hard to look passed."

Commenting on Scarlets' style of play Cummins went on to say; "I've watched from afar for quite a well. It's a really good standard of play and the fact the Scarlets play free-flowing and attacking rugby and they're a very skilful side makes them easy to watch. They play a similar style to Super Rugby teams so it's something I've kept an eye on for a while."

Scarlets return to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday, December 9, to take on Benetton in the European Rugby Champions Cup.
