Papier played all seven of his Tests in 2018, but has since struggle to break back into the Bok laager.
He made his Springbok debut in the defeat by Wales in Washington in 2018 and his last Test appearances came against the same opposition in Cardiff later that year.
Born in Clanwilliam, he moved to Pretoria in 2013 – where he completed his schooling at Hoërskool Garsfontein.
He has made 50-odd senior appearances for the Bulls and 11 for the Sale Sharks during a short stint in 2019.
