Rennie secures first Pro14 win at home

After a balanced opening to the game Alex Dunbar raced away for the first try of the match, before Dan Evans touched down a superb riposte for the Ospreys.

The sides were level at the break but Russell wasn’t hanging around, and his quick-thinking saw substitute Leonardo Sarto go over in the corner.

Scotland No.8 Adam Ashe stole a Sam Davies pass to get Glasgow’s third, and Dunbar powered over at the death to seal back-to-back wins to kick off Rennie’s reign.

The Warriors had started on the front foot as they pinned the Ospreys back in their own half, but were unable to convert the pressure into points.

A kicking war ensued but then Dunbar, on his 101st Glasgow appearance, decided to end it, picking up a loose Sam Davies pass and bursting away from four defenders to go in under the posts.

Davies, in for James Hook this week, made amends minutes later though with a lovely delayed pass on the 22 to fullback Dan Evans, who sauntered over the line.

The visitors looked inspired and piled on the pressure, with Tom Habberfield prodding around the fringes and a 26-phase passage of play resulting in a knock-on by Jeff Hassler.

Ospreys finished the half strongly, and the Warriors conceded two late penalties, the second of which was dispatched by Davies to send the sides in 10-10 at the interval.

Young Ospreys starlet Keelan Giles, who scored two tries last week, prevented one at the start of the second half as he raced back towards his line to drag down Rory Hughes just before the line.

Glasgow were looking to accelerate the game and on 53 minutes Russell took a quick-tap and passed to debutant Callum Gibbins, who offloaded to Sarto for the score.

Wales lock Bradley Davies couldn’t of been any closer to a response, but Warriors skipper Ryan Wilson and Ashe managed to get themselves underneath to hold him up.

Ashe was man of the match last week in the 18-12 win over Connacht, with 22 tackles and 20 carries, and he raced away for Glasgow’s third try after intercepting flyhalf Davies’ pass.

The Welsh side tried to get back into the game but their wide attacking game hadn’t found the desired space all afternoon, and second row Davies’ 74th minute yellow curtailed a late fightback.

Scotland centre Dunbar had displayed speed with the first try of the day, but in the 78th minute it was his power that told, as he muscled over from 10 metres to secure the bonus-point.
