According to Sharks coach Robert du Preez, who is also the father of the twins, Jean-Luc is carrying an undisclosed "niggle".

Another injury concern for the coach, ahead of this Round Two Curie Cup match, is veteran wing Odwa Ndungane – who is carrying a hamstring strain and will undergo a late fitness test.

Du Preez also made a significant number of changes to his starting XV.
