VIDEO: Brumbies positive about Pocock

Pocock was set to make his Super Rugby return in January after a year-long sabbatical from Australian rugby. However, the 29-year-old's return was delayed due to surgery on his knee.

The Wallaby flank is set to make his return this weekend in what will be his first game for the Brumbies since 2016m the Brumbies mentor revealed.

McKellar also said that the side is set to be bolstered by the return of hooker Robbie Abel (ribs) and co-captain Sam Carter (concussion) for the Australian Derby.

"They’re training and ticking boxes, so we’ll make a decision and make that decision on Thursday," McKellar said. "Carter has just come through a pretty heavy unit session, live scrum, live maul and put himself in a few collisions there. So, it’s positive and we’ll see how he pulls up.

"If Pocock is feeling available to me he’ll be playing. At this point in time, all the signs are leaning towards that, so, if I was to make a decision now he’ll have some involvement on Saturday,"

McKellar also mentioned that despite this being a big game, the team is treating it as just another match so as to avoid losing focus on their strategies.

"In the past, it’s been quite an emotional game," he said. "Obviously, both teams know each other really well and we had some progression in our game against the Sharks and we’re just focusing on us and making sure we’re better again on Saturday night and start to build some momentum at home.

"It’s Super Rugby, they’ll be physical battles. The boys will no doubt present physically on Saturday night as will New South Wales. So, from our point of view, it’s just about getting our game in order,"

Brumbies wing, Henry Speight, who recently signed on to be with the team for another year, is also getting ready to take on the NSW team.

"It’s always a big [game], I guess we missed out on hosting the ‘Tahs at home last year, so, it’ll be good for our supporters and our fans to come back to town and watch a good game being played," Speight commented.

"Obviously, they are coming from a bye as well and going off how they performed against the Rebels, we are in for a good battle this weekend.

"The emotions of the game and things like that, it’ll take care and when we get close to the game it’ll be about nailing down our structures and what we have to do. If we have our fans come down and enjoy a bit of rugby, it’ll be a good match against the ‘Tahs,"
