Injury rules Ulster fullback out of Lions clash
NEWS: Ulster will be without the services of fullback Ethan McIlroy for their United Rugby Championship match against the Lions at Ravenhill Stadium in Belfast on Friday.
McIlroy sustained a “concussion and facial fracture” in their URC victory over Munster at the weekend.
The 23-year-old was struck in the head by Munster full-back Shane Daly as he dove for the try line midway through the first half and had to be removed from the game. He sustained a significant head injury in the process.
Daly was given a yellow card for the challenge, in which his arm connected with McIlroy’s head as he attempted to make a covering tackle.
Ulster confirmed that McIlroy was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital and was treated in their emergency department before being released.
The club did not specify how long he willHo be sidelined for.
Will Addison (hamstring) is also unavailable in the back three.
