Preview: Varsity Cup, Round Two

The Bloemfontein-based students were victorious in their opening match against UCT-Ikey Tigers in a windy Cape Town in Round One. Tuks, on the hand, will want to put last week's disappointment behind them after going down 15-38 at the hands of NWU-Pukke in Pretoria.

The round gets underway in Port Elizabeth with the home side NMMU-Madibaz playing host to Hawies Fourie's Maties. The Madibaz suffered a last minute 12-19 defeat at the hands of UJ in the opening round of action and are hopeful of bringing some joy to the Windy City.

Maties, on the other hand, are full of confidence following their resounding 40-0 victory over CUT in Stellenbosch. They ran in six tries and kept the Bloemfontein students scoreless to find themselves on top of the table after one match.

UCT Ikey Tigers will make the journey to Bloemfontein to face the unpredictable Ixias. Both sides are coming off losses but the Cape side should fancy a bonus-point victory. CUT will want to impress in their first home fixture of the campaign.

The round closes out in Potchefstroom where second-placed NWU-Pukke host third-placed UJ. The Potchefstroom students should be considered favourites, considering their massive victory in Pretoria while the Johannesburg side will need to up their intensity if they are to make a game of it.

We look at all Monday's action!
