Hernandez hit by knee injury

Racing Metro’s injury-prone Argentinian star Juan Martin Hernandez suffered a serious right knee injury during Saturday’s Top 14 clash against Bourgoin, his club revealed.

“The ligaments may have been affected,” a club spokesman said after their 38-19 win.

Hernandez, known as the Magic Man’ for his inspiring play in the backs whether at fullback, flyhalf or centre, will undergo further tests on Sunday.

Argentina will be especially concerned about the welfare of their 28-year-old 33-times capped back with the World Cup getting underway in New Zealand in September as he was a standout for them in their remarkable third place at the last edition in 2007.

However, since then he has suffered a succession of injuries which saw him virtually play no rugby for South African outfit the Sharks in a year with them (2009/10) and since returning to France this season he was out for over a month with a thigh injury.
