Los Pumas get a big boost for Bok series
SQUAD UPDATE: Argentina’s flyhalf stocks have been bolstered ahead of their trip to South Africa.
Felipe Contepomi’s side will face the Boks at Kings Park on Saturday, September 27, in Round Five of the Rugby Championship. They will meet again a week later in the final round in London.
Argentina playmaker Tomás Albornoz returns to the squad for the upcoming two-Test series.
Albornoz starred in the win over the British and Irish Lions in June. He also wore the No.10 jersey in his team’s Rugby Championship opener against the All Blacks in Cordoba.
However, he suffered a dislocated finger 13 minutes into Los Pumas’ 29-23 victory over New Zealand in the rematch in Buenos Aires.

Albornoz was ruled out for the ensuing two-Test series in Australia against the Wallabies. During that period, Test rookie Nicolas Roger joined the squad as injury cover, and Santiago Carreras took on the starting No.10 duties.
The Pumas have left Australia with another even split of results, winning one and losing one, seeing them join their three competitors with the same record, albeit at the bottom of the Rugby Championship table due to a lack of bonus points.
The return of Albornoz means Roger will not fly to Durban for round five of the tournament, and neither will prop Ignacio Calles, who has been ruled out due to injury.
The prop has been replaced in the touring party by Leonel Oviedo.
