PLAYER RATINGS: Playing catch up
The Pumas found themselves trailing by 10 points in the opening 10 minutes of their Rugby Championship clash.
Argentina have made a habit of conceding early tries in games played against Australia and it was no different on this occasion.
Wallaby lock Adam Coleman crashed over for the first try of the game in only the fifth minute.
Argentina managed to fight back with two tries of their own. However, it was the bad start to the game which proved the final difference to the end result.
Josh Isaacson rates the Argentina players!
15 Joaquín Tuculet
Had a quiet game by his standards and got beaten to the ball in the air by the likes of Dane Haylett-Petty on a few occasions.
14 Matías Moroni
Left wanting under the high ball. However, Moroni managed to show his worth on defence with some good cover tackles which forced Australia into touch on many occasions.
13 Matías Orlando
Was outdone by his opposite number- Samu Kerevi, however Orlando ran hard and straight at the line with ball in hand and he was able to put his team into space with some good distribution skills in the wide channels.
12 Jerónimo De la Fuente
Showed plenty of neat footwork and pace as he dotted down for Argentina's second try of the game at the beginning of the second half. De la Fuente ran some good lines throughout the match.
11 Ramiro Moyano
Did not provide Argentina with the spark they were looking for on the wing and he was caught out with his defence in the wide channels on several occasions.
10 Santiago González Iglesias
Missed a few penalties in the first half, however his confidence seemed to grow as the game went on and he put in some fantastic tactical kicks which forced Australia tracking back into their own half.
9 Martín Landajo
Kept the Australian defence guessing with some accurate distribution skills from the base of the ruck. Did well in linking his forwards and backs on attack and combined well with Tomás Cubelli when the latter was introduced to the game in the second half.
8 Leonardo Senatore
Carried well and made some good tackles on defence.
7 Javier Ortega Desioh
Showed some good athleticism throughout the game and managed to secure Argentina front foot ball at the breakdown with some good pace to the ball.
6 Pablo Matera
Busy at the breakdown as always and proved his value with some good commitment on defence.
5 Matías Alemanno
Good with ball in hand and made some effective carries. Crashed over for a well worked pushover try in the first half.
4 Guido Petti
Did his job in managing to compete for the ball and secure Argentina possession at the line-out and contributed with some good physicality throughout the game.
3 Ramiro Herrera
Had a mixed game as at times he got the better of the Australian front row especially when the Wallabies were down to 14 players, however he was not consistent throughout the match.
2 Agustín Creevy
Always good in leading the team, however the captain of Argentina was not his usual self with ball in hand as he knocked the ball forward on the Australia try-line and on one occasion he missed his jumper at the line-out. Creevy managed to contribute with some good work on defence and at the breakdown.
1 Lucas Noguera
The Argentina front row did not perform throughout the match and it was no different for Noguera who was unable to gain any sort of ascendency over his opposite number- Scott Sio, in the scrum.
16 Julian Montoya (On for Creevy, 66th minute)
Contributed with some good pick and goes and managed to find his jumper in the line-out.
17 Santiago García Botta (On for Noguera, 68th minute)
Made a good contribution on defence and made a contribution in slowing down the Wallabies' ball at the breakdown.
18 Enrique Pieretto (On for Ramiro Herrera, 68th minute)
Only on for 12 minutes, however he contributed with some good tackles on defence.
19 Marcos Kremer (On for Guido Petti, 75th minute)
Not enough time to be rated
20 Juan Manuel Leguizamon (On for Senatore, 51st minute)
Argentina look more calm and relaxed on the field with the presence of Leguizamon. Leguizamon took the ball into contact and made some valuable metres with ball in hand.
21 Tomás Cubelli (On for Moyano, 58th minute)
Managed to ignite the Argentina backline as he combined well with scrum-half Martin Landajo and managed to keep the ball alive for Argentina with some sublime offloads in the tackle
22 Gabriel Ascarate
23 Lucas González Amorosino
