'Red' Boks looking to break away drought

'Red' Boks looking to break away droughtHowever, the Springboks have put the fall-out over the orange-looking jersey aside, hoping to extend an encouraging four-victory start to the season.

The change from the traditional green and gold or second-choice white is to celebrate 25 years of rugby unity in SA.

All the national flag colours – black, blue, green, red, white and yellow – will have been used either in playing or training kit after the kick-off in northwestern city Salta.

The Boks will hope it will be a red-letter day for a team that has battled in previous Rugby Championship visits to South America.

South Africa have won twice, drawn once and lost once, with the widest victory margin for the twice former world champions a mere five points.

A win on Saturday will be a first victory on the road for coach Allister Coetzee.

It will be the Boks' first away win in almost two years – their last triumph outside the Republic having been a World Cup third-place play-off (24-13) victory over Los Pumas in London in October 2015.

The last Rugby Championship win on the road for South Africa was also against Argentina – a two-point squeaker (33-31) in Salta in August 2014.

"The team must banish from their minds the idea that we are always going to struggle in Argentina," stressed lock Eben Etzebeth, standing in as skipper for injured Warren Whiteley.

"We need to prepare well, get our mindset right and believe we can go there and win."

Etzebeth said they are expecting a 'very physical' game.

"We played here in Salta last year and it didn't go that well,"he said of a 24-26 loss.

"We are looking for a better result this time round.,

"We want to rectify the wrongs of the past."
