Tragedy strikes in Argentina

Five rugby players with Argentine club side San Miguel were killed in a road accident on Sunday as they were travelling to compete in a sevens competition,

The 37-year-old team captain and 22-year-old twin brothers were among the victims of the crash in the Misiones province in the north of the country, according to the club.

The five perished when their car hit a wall and burst into flames near the city of Puerto Iguazu, 1,350 kilometres from the Argentine capital, the club said.

Competition organisers immediately postponed the event.

San Miguel was founded in 1985 and is a member of the Rugby Federation of Buenos Aires.
