Hunt: I don't have a drug problem

Disgraced code-hopper Karmichael Hunt on Friday told a media briefing that while he does not have a perfect past, it doesn't mean he has a drug problem.

Hunt was suspended for six weeks and fined AU$30,000 by the Australian Rugby Union and Queensland Rugby Union this week, after pleading guilty in court to four counts of possession of a prohibited drug.

On Friday Hunt fronted up to the media and said his "mistakes" doesn't make him a bad man.

"I've been sitting in a pretty vulnerable place the last couple of weeks," he said.

"I wouldn't lie and say that I didn't fear the worst.

"What I did know was that I had made a mistake that is not too uncommon these days.

"It doesn't make me a bad man for it, but I'm obviously disappointed in the mistakes I made back then and how it landed me in this position now.

"I want to apologise for my decisions that landed me and the club in this position. It's very disappointing.

"I can't repay the faith overnight but I look forward to hopefully repaying the faith over the next couple of years both on and off the field."
